The SME Package – Digital is a government grant program administered by the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy that supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in their digital transformation. Eligible companies must hold a business license from the Ministry of the Economy, meet the SME criteria (number of employees, annual revenue, annual balance sheet), and be headquartered in Luxembourg.
The program covers three areas of funding: digital marketing (e.g., creating or improving a website, social media campaigns), management systems (e.g., point-of-sale systems, industry-specific software, ERP), and electronic invoicing (ERP systems with a corresponding module).
The Ministry of Economic Affairs covers 70% of the eligible costs. To qualify, the project must have a total value of at least 3,000 euros (plus VAT) and no more than 25,000 euros (plus VAT). Payment is made upon completion of the project.
First, the company must contact the Chamber of Commerce’s House of Entrepreneurship (or, for skilled trades businesses, the eHandwierk department of the Chamber of Skilled Trades). There, a mandatory preliminary analysis of the current state of digitalization will be conducted. Next, a suitable package and provider are selected jointly, the grant application is submitted, and the grant is disbursed upon project completion.
Once the provider has completed the implementation, a final meeting is held to assess satisfaction and the savings achieved. The company pays the final invoice to the provider and is then reimbursed for 70% of the eligible costs directly by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
